Xenopus Ectopic Eye
Bioelectric and developmental interventions induce an ectopic eye on a tadpole’s body—vision-capable tissue in a non-canonical location. Morphogenetic targets are shown to be rewritable without rewriting the entire genome story. The specimen for bioelectric attractors: form follows priced tissue patterning. What persists is a sensory organ whose maintenance cost and wiring must still couple to a body that did not budget for it.
