One beaker, four objects of assessment
A level verdict is always indexed to a named regime and time-slice. Formation, growth, product persistence, and defect history can receive different verdicts.
The controls are qualitative proxies. The instrument does not equate crystallisation energy with Landauer erasure, and it does not treat a finished lattice as if it were still an active growth process.
One canonical beaker state supports Chapter 3's level test and Chapter 4's transductive front without merging their interpretive overlays.

Four time slices, four different certifications.
This schematic varies supersaturation, seed count and orientation, temperature, and annealing. Its controls are illustrative categories, not measured thermodynamic thresholds or quantities.
Formation event: certified
Demonstrates: A seed can select one lattice trajectory from a metastable field of accessible outcomes.
Does not demonstrate: The event does not procure its own supersaturation, seed, or thermal preparation.
Cessation test: Remove the viable seed or leave the formation band: no lattice event begins.
Active growth: certified
Demonstrates: The active front converts metastable surplus into determinate lattice order while growth continues.
Does not demonstrate: Front propagation does not renew the supersaturation it consumes.
Cessation test: Exhaust the surplus or interrupt the front: active payment stops before the lattice product disappears.
Finished lattice: certified
Demonstrates: A product can retain long-range order after the genesis-transitive front has stopped paying.
Does not demonstrate: Persistence of the finished lattice is not ongoing self-maintenance or repair.
Cessation test: Dissolve the lattice rather than merely stopping the already-finished front.
Defect topology: certified
Demonstrates: Multiple growth histories can deposit a defect topology distinct from the parent lattice description.
Does not demonstrate: Defect architecture does not self-procure the thermal regime that preserves or anneals it.
Cessation test: Anneal the defect network: its topology can vanish while the molecular floor and lattice order survive.

Formation event
Nucleation and front propagation can select and stabilise a lattice pattern while supersaturation remains available.
Active growth regime
The propagating front incurs an active throughput and can be interrupted. It is not identical to the lattice left behind.
Maintained product
A finished lattice can persist without continuing to pay the growth regime's rent; classify that persistence separately.
Equilibrium residue and defect topology
Seed orientation, collisions, and annealing leave or revise scars. Historical structure can remain after the active front ends.
